Our History Highlights


2011 – To capture the brand equity of the legacy Retriever name in the bankcard merchant payment processing industry, Select Merchant Service LLC rebrands to Retriever Merchant Solutions, Inc. The company is in discussions to continue growing and expanding.

2011 – Retriever Merchant Solutions / Select Merchant Service LLC signs long-term contract with NPC for debit and credit card processing services to merchants.

2011 – Retriever Merchant Solutions / Select Merchant Service becomes an ISO/MSP.

2004 – Select Merchant Service opens first Call Center and begins significant annual investments in technology and telemarketing to support Agent sales growth and success. We continue to increase our investment in these areas year after year.

2003 – Select Merchant Service (now Retriever Merchant Solutions) achieves success and recognition as host Retriever’s No. 1 sales office.

1999 – Brian Kamstra launches first merchant payment processing sales office, Select Merchant Service, in South Holland, Illinois, affiliated with host organization Retriever based in Houston, Texas.

1996 – NPC becomes publicly traded company on the NYSE.

1993 – Brian Kamstra begins working in merchant processing industry with another ISO company.

1979 – NPC established as subsidiary of First National bank of Louisville, which had acquired MasterCharge in 1967.

1975 – Brian Kamstra meets Jim Oberman in a Jazz-Rock band, and his course and career in the merchant payment processing industry is set along with a lifelong friendship with Jim. Brian attributes much of his success today to Jim, who today, is NPC Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer.
